| John, Ok, here we go. First, I want to thank you on behalf of the Lyle and the Rare Bear crew for helping us get this program off the ground. The name of the game, at this point is, publicity, publicity. We have to have help getting the word out to the fans. We are now incorporated as : RARE BEAR FAN SPONSOR CLUB, INC. We have applied for a non-profit status, and will let all sponsors know the out come of this. We are now set up to accept membership in the club via the internet at our web-site www.rarebear.com. We have also put into place a web-store, online. This will be operational as soon as we receive the merchandise that has been ordered. Pictures of the sponsorship jackets will be posted on the site as soon as I receive the first ones. We have now added a third level of sponsorship, the Bronze level for $25.00 or more, for which they will receive a limited edition Bumper Sticker. A picture of this will also be posted on our web- site. These I already have and will post it as soon as I get time. If most of the people who signed pledges will honor them in the original amount, we will have gathered enough money together to pay for the first phase of this project, BUILDING THE ENGINE! We will still have a long ways to go however. Insurance (a big item), new paint job, expense of the tractor and trailer (needs some new tires), rooms and the added expense of race week for the crew at Reno, and somewhere around $10,000 for all the little things the Bear will need to make her a unit (hoses, pumps, oil cooler system overhaul, cost of bringing the nikehead batteries up to working order, etc. Also we need to cover the cost of renting two hangers at this time, one in Reno and one in Van Nuys. Right now the work is progressing on two fronts. The fusalage is at Reno and at this time the plan is to have it ready when the engine arrives from Van Nuys. The work crew there, headed up by Don Dull is replacing hoses and fuel lines, working on the oil cooler ducts, and other small tasks that the Bear requires. The crew in Van Nuys, headed up by Greg Shaw, will deliver the available parts of the power section of the engine to Aircraft Cylinder today. They will start the assembly process as soon as the parts get there. This crew is also working on the rebuilding of various pumps needed, cleaning up the Rare Bear trailer and the hanger, among other chores. The Sponsorship program will work, if everyone honors their pledge, we get enough publicity to spread the word and The Rare Bear fans put their money where their mouth is. We will be in the April Issues of both Challange Publications, Air Classics and Warbirds Unlimited. Pacific Flyer and General Aviation News are both helping us spread the word. A cable channel out of California wants to interview Lyle about the progress of the Bear and how the Sponsorship Club is doing. They want to follow the progress from now until the Races. When I get a minute, I will go to work on getting some contacts on the East coast for publicity. You might want to check out our Web-site, www.rarebear.com. It has a final agreement posted on it, and will explain in further detail the Sponsorship Program. If anyone needs more information, or does not want to join via the internet, they can contact me at fansponsor@rarebear.com, or write to Rare Bear Air Racing Team, 245 Liberty St. Suite 240, Reno, NV 89501. I can also be reached by telephone, (208) 642-2071 Due to the fact that my internet service keeps blinking on and off (don't they know I have important business to do?) I am sending this in word pad as a scanned attachment There's more than one way to get this to you. Once again, Thank you for all your help. Together, we can do this! If you have any questions, feel free to contact me. Sharon Coates |
